67296We talked with Niko from Dark Suns to know I little bit more about the new release and some other things of the band.

GroundCast: To warm up, tell us, how everything started?

In this case I’m a passionate supporter of the Big Bang theory, the prevailing cosmological model for the universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model accounts for the fact that the universe expanded from a very high density and high temperature state, and offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of phenomena. Modern measurements place this moment at approximately 13.8 billion years ago, which is thus considered the age of the universe. After the initial expansion, the universe cooled sufficiently to allow the formation of subatomic particles, and later simple atoms. Giant clouds of these primordial elements later coalesced through gravity to form stars and galaxies. At least, that’s what wikipedia tolds us. Some years later we started recording SWANLIKE:-)

GroundCast: What are your influences?

We’re a band still being in progress. You always capture a lot of new things wether music, books, movies or daily things in life. For me Dark Suns represents a musical freedom, creativity coming into bloom but primarily music from the heart.

GroundCast: You are in a recording process, what can we expect from this new release?

The new album holds great melancholy within the vital force of the music. Catchy and complex all at once. The passion for new challenges merges with eternal yesterday, holding spiritual significance inside, for you to discover. It is the essence of another 4 years of band progress and we’re very proud to hold it in our hands soon.

GroundCast: You made recently a successful crowdfounding campaign, from where came the idea to use this platform to be able to record the new album?

We are as poor as church mice and only eat one meager meal per day, not able to act like an international kind of a supergroup;-)

I guess it`s a great possibilitiy to go beyond the borders, to reach the common crowd and share your vision. Crowdfunding is anything but a sheet anchor, it is a stirrup on your way of goal achievement. Thanks to our supporters!

GroundCast: The band changed the musical direction in Orange, why this change was made and will we still listen songs like the Existence era?

We felt red and played yellow; the result was Orange;-) I don`t know. A thirst for new experiences but never182212 planned. It’s the unconscious mixture of own creativity and captured art inputs. ORANGE was born out of this classical band idea. 3 guys sweating in the rehearsing room, writing songs together. We even recorded ORANGE live in the studio to keep this idea alive.

Today the EXISTENCE era lies 10 years ago. Yet we somehow focused on bringing back some kind of emotional parallels of this period, although our tools and musical resources have changed a lot.

GroundCast: We are in the internet era, where people can download everything. What do you think about it?

It`s a difficult subject with two faces you know. People are a bit lazy in this era of internet…maybe like order food by amazon 😉 ok, to be honest. It is a really easy and fast possibility to consume a lot of music and to experience new music. That`’s cool. But people are supersaturated cause of this sensory overload. I guess they aren’t able to plump down anymore. To make it short…in our opinion: Take the vinyl, celebrate to put the record on your player, sit down and lay back, light a candle, relaxe, look at the beautiful artwork, read the lyrics and really enjoy music.

314853GroundCast: What are the future plans after the recording of the new album?

To promote it as best as possible. Bringing back love and world peace with it!

I guess, touring would be great;-)

GroundCast: This is 4 years since the release of Orange, why took so long to start a new recording?

We all carry this music thing inside us but have daily duties too.

Going to work and doing a job can be very nasty but necessary to keep everything going.

Family has priority of course. I’m a proud father of two wonderful children and try to be a good one too.

Effective work and time scheduling is very important for the band. Musically we always try to build on what’s already there, not forgetting to let things grow and have fun in what we’re doing. Wrinkles and eye rings are often the price.

A good thing takes time!

GroundCast: Now you can say something to our readers. Thanks for the interview.

The new album will be released about April/May 2016, hopefully!

An exact date is not fixed yet.

Stay tuned for our new songs!

Cheers, Niko
