First of all, thanks to accept answer the interview, is a great pleasure to us make this interview.
GroundCast: To warm up, tell us how everything began?
Alex: The band started up with Jessie and Melanie (our ex-drummer) in 2003. Nadine became the bassist soon and in February of 2004 I assumed the vocal. In 2007 Melanie left the band and Sarah assumed the drums. Our line-up:
Alex: eve-ill brutal screaming, voice
Jessie: down-tuned heavy riffing, voice
Nadine*: drone-doom bass, infernal growls, violin, voice
Sarah: doomed drums
*Nadine left the band some time after this interview
GroundCast: What are your influences?
Alex: We don’t like to look like another bands, but everybody has influences. The bands that we’re listening now:
Alex: Eyehategod, Graveyard, Khuda, Skindred, Electric Wizard, Bongzilla
Jessie: YOB, Alice In Chains, Nadja, Batillus, Crowbar
Nadine: is very into French black metal, for example „glorior belli“, „deathspell omega“
Sarah: 13th floor elevator, shining
GroundCast: You are a doom metal band that is composed only for girls, do you feel some kind of prejudgment?
Alex: Definitely is harder to be taken seriously as a female band and a bullshit excuse to people don’t like of our music, just because we’re women, but we learned to overcome this situation.
GroundCast: “Rituals” is an amazing album, mixing a lot of emotions when listened, how do you create the melodies to make them sound so natural?
Alex: We’re all involved with the creation process. Is a pure feeling, emotion and things like that. Our guitarist (Jessie) or Nadine (Bass) start to play something and the other girls will splitting the puzzle. We make some “jams” and see if what we are playing is “cool” or not.
GroundCast: You have lyrics in French and Brazilian Portuguese, how popped up the idea to have a song sang in Portuguese?
Alex: Well, I’m brazilian, therefore we have a music in brazilian portuguese and the French, I think it is so cool to sing…(Alex)
GroundCast: How can you describe shEver for long the years? What changed and what is the same?
Alex: As human beings we are always changing, we’re growing old, but the love for music never changes. Nadine will leave the banda and of course this is a drastic change. We’re looking for a new bassist, woman or man, and life keeps moving or is beginning of a new era.
GroundCast: We are in the internet era, everyone can download everything for free, what do you think about it?
Alex: We have a good side: the people have freedom to have everything. A small band has a chance to be known for lots of people, perhaps these people never had a change to listen them because can’t buy the CD or it simply hasn’t access to it. The other side of the coin is: shEver for example, pays everything and every CD or “Merch” that we sell is important to pay the debts of recording, mixing and etc.
GroundCast: Switzerland is an amazing country for bands, I can list some of them, Mirrorthrone, Weeping Birth, the amazing Celtic Frost, Coroner and the list go on and on, how is the Switzerland metal scene?
Alex: Switzerland is a small country with lots of bands. We have lost of Death Metal bands here and exist some friendship, but to be honest, four girls trying to take a space between them is so hard. In foreign places we have more success.
GroundCast: The Line-Up is solid since 2006, what is the formula to make everything working right on the trails?
Alex: The love for music and believe in what we do (so romantic, women things, ok?).
GroundCast: Doom Metal isn’t something “popular” to play, the question is, why play Doom Metal?
Alex: You can like or you can hate Doom Metal, no-one can step between this line. We love it, and the Doom Metal has many facets, Groovy, Heavy, Slowly, Sludge, Romantic and Brutal.
GroundCast: What are the future plans for the band?
Alex: We have some concerts and hope to find a new bassist asap, we’ll record a new album with a band called Spencer and we’ll try to organize some concerts for 2013 and of course make new songs.
GroundCast: Thanks for your time girls, now the space is yours to say something to the Brazilian Fans and to the GroundCast’s readers.
Alex: I love Brazil, is the best public, and the girls would love play there. May someday.
Is an honor answer the questions.
Doom on
